What the TSA told me...

[This is probably my first relevant thread... not too sure where to post this]

From my return to China, which I entered a Tibetan region (that changed my life and I may post about in the future) after a 2 month vacation, I arrived first at the city of Los Angeles, by of course, airplane.

Upon seeing and hearing that I had to pass by a TSA check point, I immediately frowned. I don't remember the last time when I was patted down in an airport, but I still wasn't too happy.

However, this time, I got picked. I wasn't exactly too sure what had happened, but I think the security alarm went off a bit, and I was told to stand in front of a man wearing gloves. And I did, the man then patted me down from my armpit to my hips, and told me "you are free to go."

Questions immediately arose within my head, so I asked him, "what was that (the patting) (searching) for?"

And he told me, "Oh, it's random."'

O______o

I am sorry, but what does this mean? Does it mean that the patting down has no actual purpose and is just trying to make USA citizens think that "something" is being done to prevent terrorism?

Have there been any terrorists discovered by this method?

Yes it's an act of humiliation

And teaches your children that government can line you up. It teaches your children who is the boss, and who can order you around. It is SO disgusting to see people gladly taking the submission stance, hands over head, while the government radiates them - "As long as it keeps us safe!" So, none of us are safe.

Trying to make Americans

Trying to make Americans think that they're doing something proactive about terrorism is just the front for what they are really trying to achieve. After all if the whole objective of terrorism is to kill masses of people in order to strike fear into the hearts of people, what better place to do so then at a security checkpoint. I say, they make us less safe.

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters." Benjamin Franklin

Sure, its "random"

Because if they say its random, people seem to think that it doesn't have to be moral or constitutional for some reason.

Although, when it comes to the naked scanners, some people seem to be more random than others. Like young attractive women. They're apparently born with a high genetic disposition toward randomness.

Yes

we have to keep this fight alive, I've been through it when I refused the nude scanner. Only a few of us were refusing it, but even just 1 person standing there waiting to be patted is enough to show all of the people in line that someone doesn't agree with what's happening. As long as we say no, provisions must be made to deal with us. That is the point for those who think we should just go through. Lemmings.

welcome out from under the rock

BREAKING NEWS!!! ALERT!!! BREAKING NEWS!!! ALERT!!! BREAKING NEWS!!! ALERT!!!

you went to an aiport and were searched by TSA. This happens to thousands of travelers everyday, but I'm glad we know about your experience and your trip to China. WOW!!! I've never heard of anyone travelling to China. More amazing news!!!

BREAKING NEWS!!! ALERT!!! BREAKING NEWS!!! ALERT!!! BREAKING NEWS!!! ALERT!!!

I like how this post is on the front page, but last week the Sikh Shootings were buried out of sight. Yeah, that makes sense.

Why?

It's conditioning.

They want the people, esp women (mothers or future mothers) and children to understand they are without rights. They are prisoners.

It's police state conditioning, and nothing more.

Obviously, it has ZERO to do with stopping terrorism. It's all about putting together the brown shirt force, and training the populace to submit.

And oh yeah, don't murmur when in line, cuz if "step out of line, the man come and take you away"! -- Buffalo Springfield

And as far as what the TSA said? Fuck the TSA!

Can't wait to hear about your experiences in Tibet!

Wow...

Practically my first thread and already has been front paged... Guess I have to post about my vacation in the Tibetan region that I went to sometime, which was absolutely beautiful.

nobody cares

about your trip to Tibet.

Life-Changing experience is very relative to your past experiences and scope of the world. I bet your life-changing experience is what other people would call regular daily life.

Wake up in a bad mood?

I'd love to hear about places I cannot visit personally. Yes it will be regular life to those in Tibet, but I'm sure many there would love to get stories out to those who honor peace and liberty.

i actually hope the OP makes

i actually hope the OP makes a new thread about this amazing trip to Tibet. I eagerly await POOPing all over that thread too.

LOL

gotta go

if you go to tibet you'll really poop. maybe they were wiping him down before they let him in.

"Random search" is just an

"Random search" is just an admission that there is no probable cause.

The 4th Amendment is dead.

No terrorists caught

The TSA has never thwarted any terrorist attack since its inception. They have in fact allowed terrorists on-board who were eventually stopped by the passengers. They have caught people bringing weapons of various kinds on-board, but none of those were thought to be attempting anything unseemly while on the flight.

it's either random or racial

it's either random or racial profiling

make your choice

Many times it is random

and they will pat down every nth person to come through; but like someone else said, you could have also fit the profile for smuggling drugs/contraband. Often if you are single or you are traveling as a single couple with no kids, you will be patted down.

you got fingered

Good thing you didn't keep questioning them. You may have gotten a random finger up your a$$.

Tibet???

You Bruce Wayne or something? lol

Are you saying they patted

Are you saying they patted you down at the END of your trip? What's the purpose of that?

It's not random

The TSA tends to check people coming back into the country solo more. The same thing happened when I came back from Tokyo Japan, they wrapped it up real quick though when they found the porn I bought while I was there in my luggage.

Random

Yeah, I think they're probably supposed to tell you that it's random. But we all know random checks don't stop nothing. "Random checks" didn't keep a homeless dude from making it all the way onto an airplane earlier this year.

If you practiced Hokuto Shin Ken

would it matter if you got patted down? Your fist are the most deadly weapon.

Figured if you went to Japan you might get this joke.

May the LORD bless you and keep you
May the LORD make His face shed light upon you and be gracious unto you
May the LORD lift up His face unto you and give you peace

smh

because we all know china and japan are the same country

Huh?

Hokuto no Ken is an iconic Japanese series. It means Fist of the Big Dipper (North Star as it is usually translated) in Japanese.

Sure Hokuto Shin Ken might be a fictional Chinese martial art, but all the featured characters in the series that use it are Japanese.

The main characters are all Japanese. Even in Souten no Ken, the prequel.

Also, I really love anime. I can identify the difference from Chinese, (Han, Cantonese, ext), Japanese, Korean, ext. It is very easy actually.

Why did I get a down vote?

Oh

This was the order I went

Chongqing-BeiJing-Los Angeles-Miami

After arriving at Los Angeles, I transferred to a different terminal and was patted there while trying to enter the gate.

WTF

is this your first time travelling?

whenever you leave a terminal and enter at another terminal, you will get searched again. welcome to 10 years ago.

Security theater and conditioned submission ...

... the same purposes as all the other pat-downs. It is particularly egregious though, because they are patting down a person who is legally on US soil, where he is supposed to be free from warrantless searches. They do not have the excuse that submission is voluntarily given in return for taking a seat on public transportation. I have seen it at least one time previously (on youtube of course) where a TSA viper(!) team was frisking people who were disembarking from AMTRACK.

and I'm really frustrated at the thought of being molested by these goons. This is just crazy! Glad you made it home safely, and blessed be. :)
