Please Ask Your Local News Media to Cover "Paul Got 5 States and Earned Speech Slot" Story
Submitted by James_Madison_Lives on Tue, 08/07/2012 - 21:16One thing still great about our country is the power of local media to choose it's own narrative. Mostly, out of sheer laziness, it will follow the national script, but not always. Local editors can be a feisty and independent bunch, working for small and medium size newspapers, local TV news and radio, and other organs not directly managed by the centralized national news network and newspaper giants.
Many editors might scratch their heads at the information presented in the media analysis "Media Says Ron Paul Wins Five States, Qualifying for Nomination. Romney Breaks Rules to Deny Speaking Slot." They might even decide to write an editorial challenging the official narrative.
Better yet, your local paper editor is probably someone you can get on the phone easily, to ask him/her to do just that, with the full documentation handy in this article. The national media is forced to revise only when too many directly conflicting narratives start popping up, and people start checking the facts, costing them credibility and circulation.
The local media and the national are two different animals. But put together, the locals still buy an awful lot of ink.

CNN demise is their own news. Are they an exaggeration?
CNN is seeking ideas for reality television programing amid their worst ratings in 20 years.
Following ongoing reports revealing a ratings disaster at CNN, the network is now negotiating plans for bringing onboard reality TV programing, the New York Post reports. According to the newspaper, CNN is now scraping the bottom of the barrel in terms of television content, hoping to bring on board as many as five new reality shows to air on the weekends beginning early next year.
The rumors come amid the network’s worst ratings in 20 years, which is believed to be the catalyst, at least in part, of CNN President Jim Walton’s recent admittance that he will walk away from the network after three decades at the end of 2012.
Upon announcing his planned departure last month, Mr. Walton wrote to his colleagues at the network, “CNN needs new thinking. That starts with a new leader who brings a different perspective, different experiences and a new plan, one who will build on our great foundation and will commit to seeing it through.”

You are aware you are confusing the issue.
His minimum 5 states have earned him a spot on the ballot at the convention. It has earned him an opportunity to be nominated. So why this balls to the wall push to for a speaking position alongside neo cons like condi and mccain. Clearly Paul has not been asked to speak because he is on the ballot. Not because he has been snubbed. Its almost as if these efforts are intended to trick supporters into accepting a toaster as a consolation prize when they are in fact still in the running for the grand prize.
Can you clarify?
The media has obscured that he has qualified for the ballot
you say:
"Clearly Paul has not been asked to speak because he is on the ballot."
No, many people still think he lost the chance to be on the ballot after Nebraska, a blatant lie. You should be spending your energy countering this lie (article linked in post.)

Clearly the media is pushing the idea that RP will not
be "allowed" to speak, which grants the false premise they have established that he "lost" his last chance in Nebraska.
"Ron Paul Not Guaranteed Speaking Slot at Convention"

"Ron Paul Will Not Be Given Speaking Slot at Republican National Convention"

It seems to me what the writer is doing is attacking the false premise as well as the conclusion, that Paul's speaking slot is discretionary.
Then if Paul delegates stand up and hoot and holler and get dragged out of room if Paul is denied the ballot, everyone will think they are just spoil sports, rather than fighters in a righteous cause. They are setting up the perception. We must attack it at the root.

I don't know man...
YAHOO is hardly the media...and the economic policy journal isn't exactly a household name. The msm has NOT picked up on this and if they do we will only have ourselves (or you) to blame. This confusing misinformation originated here and was initially posted by the DPs own editors account. Seems all this is going to accomplish is disenfranchising our own delegates and keeping them away from Tampa as well as cementing a false narrative that Paul did not make the ballot.
Quite sniffing that stuff
"the major media has reported that Paul has indeed won the five state minimum required to be on the ballot" = "cementing a false narrative that Paul did not make the ballot"??

nonsense
Your plan is asinine if your intentions are to help Paul's effort to win the nomination in Tampa. Beg the media to report Paul's 5 state plurality equals a speaking position only and not his name on the ballot. Yeah I can see how that will help.
You don't beg the media, you become the media
Ed Romney "Schill."

bump for nation-wide local coverage
.
Also all these outfits now have a Facebook page
likely followed by the citizens most likely to raise a fuss about something like integrity in reporting. Everyone starts calling the editor and saying, "Now Virgil, what's this about Ron Paul got his five states? It's in your Facebook." - and eventually the truth comes busting loose like an open floodgate.
Take the Alamogordo Daily News, fer example. Now that's a REAL paper.
